Setup on Android

Get your microphone and keyboard ready for speaking and typing activities in just a few minutes.

In this guide:

Head­phones
Recom­mended

Using head­phones reduces back­ground noise and improves speech recog­nition.

 


1. Allow microphone access

Android will ask for permission the first time you do speaking activities.

  • Tap Allow when prompted.
If microphone is blocked for ImmerseMe:

Go to step 2 to change the browser site settings and make sure microphone access is enabled.

2. Check Chrome permissions

Make sure Chrome is allowed to use your microphone.

  1. Tap the    icon in the address bar.
  2. Go to Site information → Permissions →
    Microphone → Allow
  3. Reload the page if needed.

3. Check your microphone

If you’re using a wired or Bluetooth headset, make sure it’s connected before starting your lesson.

Tip: Wired or Bluetooth headsets work best for speaking activities.


4. Test your microphone

Before starting a lesson, test your microphone.

  • Return to ImmerseMe.
  • Start a speaking activity and speak normally.
  • If the microphone icon responds, you're ready to go.

5. Set up your keyboard

Some activities require you to type words using the correct language keyboard.

  Adding a keyboard
  1. Go to Settings → System → Keyboard → On-screen keyboard →
    Gboard → Languages → Add keyboard
    .
  2. Choose the language and enable the keyboard you need.
  3. Note: These steps are for Gboard, the standard keyboard on many Android devices. Settings may vary if you use Samsung Keyboard or another keyboard.

    Tip: When typing, tap the globe icon or press and hold the space bar to switch languages.
