How do I use ImmerseMe with the Oculus Go?

  • How to bookmark ImmerseMe on the Oculus browser

 

Instructions

  1. Turn on your Oculus device.

    Press and hold onto the power button on the top of your device until a green light appears. You will know this has worked once you can see the Oculus logo through the headset. 

    Once the device has powered up you will be taken to the Oculus home screen, if this does not appear, follow step two to bring up the home screen. If the home screen is already showing, move to step three to open your Oculus browser.

  2. Navigate to your home screen.

    Find your devices home screen by selecting the Oculus button on your Oculus remote. 

    This will bring up the Oculus home screen as shown in step 3.

  3. Enter Oculus browser

    Select the 'Browser' button in the menu under the 'Navigate' tab. This will open the default Oculus browser which has the best support for ImmerseMe.

  4. Select the address bar.

    Using your Oculus remote, interact with the bar at the top of the browser so you can enter ImmerseMe's URL.

  5. Navigate to ImmerseMe's home page.

    Using the pop-up keyboard, enter this URL into the address bar: www.immerseme.com. Select 'go' and wait for the website to load up.

  6. Select 'Log in'.

    This is our home page, from here you can find all you need to know about ImmerseMe, to enter ImmerseMe in VR you will need to select the 'Login' button in the top-right menu.

  7. Enter credentials.

    In the username and password fields shown, enter your corresponding credentials to log into your ImmerseMe account.

  8. Select language.

    Your ImmerseMe home page will show all available languages to you, select the language that you would like to experience, and allow the webpage to load up all available lessons.

  9. Select module and lesson.

    From the hundreds of available lessons, select one that jumps out at you, and the website will take you to the lesson script page.

  10. Select lesson mode.

    This is the lesson script page, where you can select exactly what mode you would like to experience for this certain lesson. For this example, we are going to select the pronunciation mode.

  11. Allow microphone access.

    If this is your first time using ImmerseMe on your device the browser will request access to your microphone. Make sure you select allow otherwise our system can not hear you!

  12. Select 'Start Lesson'.

    You have the option to either experience a short mindfulness exercise or click the play button to continue straight to the lesson.

  13. Interact with 'VR Mode' button.

    Once inside the lesson, all you have to do is select the VR mode at the bottom of the menu on the right-hand side to enter your immersive experience. A pop-up may appear requesting access to WebXR as seen in the next step.

  14. Allow WebXR access.

    To allow the browser access to your gyroscope, accelerometer and other hardware in the Oculus Go, please select allow to enter the WebXR session.

  15. Enjoy ImmerseMe in VR!

    You will now be in a virtual reality environment in conversation with an authentic native speaker! Enjoy!
