What are the technical requirements for using ImmerseMe?

This page is designed to guide a school’s IT Admin through LMS integration, firewall whitelisting and a checklist of recommended hardware requirements. Please email with any questions.

LMS Integration

Getting set up is a simple 3-step process:

  1. Understand how Edlink streamlines your school's integrations, overview here.
  2. Connect using ImmerseMe's integration link: https://ed.link/integrate/a7b47922-35bf-484c-8e11-27422fba767b
  3. Set share rules to limit data shared with ImmerseMe, tutorial here

Once connected, Canvas and Schoology users can set up an LTI app:

How to create a student licensing rule

  1. Select the Integrations tab on the left, an integration under ImmerseMe should appear in the table in the center of the screen.

    Step1.png

  2. Once inside our integration, select 'Data Pipeline' on the left hand tab, before selecting 'Open Preview' in the center of the screen.

    Step2.png

  3. Here, you should be able to create a new rule with the button shown below.

    Step3.png

  4. Sharing by class is probably the most appropriate rule to create.

  5. In this page, you will be able to select individual classes to allow into ImmerseMe with a start and end date. The students that are permitted through this rule will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. Make sure you select 'Save Changes' in the top right to enforce this rule on your data!

Firewall Requirements

  • Whitelist https://immerseme.co/ and all subdomains *immerseme.co/ (port 443)
  • Allow an HTTPS bypass exclusion on our web proxy by adding immerseme.co as a trusted host within the daily PAN-DB URL filtering license updates
  • Switch off encryption and deep packed inspection for our host/s:
  • immerseme.co. 299 IN A 198.49.23.144
  • immerseme.co. 299 IN A 198.185.159.145
  • immerseme.co. 299 IN A 198.49.23.145
  • immerseme.co. 299 IN A 198.185.159.144

Student Setup

To use ImmerseMe, each student would need:

  • Access to a laptop, tablet or smartphone
  • Access to Chrome, Safari, Firefox (desktop), or Safari (iOS)
  • Access to a working microphone (External microphones work best, like headphones with a built-in microphone that come with most mobile devices or bluetooth microphones like AirPods. These will generally be able to understand the student a lot more clearly than the microphone built-in to laptops. Some desktops don't have a built-in microphone at all so will require an external microphone source.)
  • High speed internet
  • A quiet space where they can be heard clearly
