How do I use 'Translation' mode?

Tip: Please refer to the article How do I use 'Pronunciation' mode? for a rundown of menu icons available within ImmerseMe.

Instructions

  1. Click Start Lesson from the lesson script page (either at the top or on the right side). For our example, we're in French > Bakery > Buying a loaf of bread (Acheter du pain).

  2. Navigate through the Game Settings. Under Game Mode, select Translation. From here you'll also have to set up your preferred Extension and Target Accuracy. Click Play! once your setup is done.

  3. The lesson starts with the native speaker talking to you and asking you a question. A prompt will then appear at the bottom of the screen that displays the required response in English (or Putonghua when learning English as a target language). Your task now is to translate your response to the target language, using the text as a guide. In our example, we can see Hello, I would like a loaf of bread please, but from studying the lesson script, ImmerseMe is expecting me to say Bonjour, je voudrais du pain s'il vous plaît. Note that your responses must match the lesson script, so we recommend studying it prior to doing this mode.

  4. Once you have correctly recorded your response, the lesson will continue as normal and you will need to continue translating each sentence in the conversation.

Well done for completing the lesson in Translation mode!👏🏻  Feel free to go back and revise Pronunciation, Typing, or Spelling mode.
